Mulberry, patiently
Bombyx mori silkworms are raised on mulberry leaves. In the traditional cycle, they feed repeatedly for around 45 days before spinning a cocoon.

One continuous filament
A cocoon is formed from one exceptionally fine filament. When carefully reeled, that filament can extend for roughly half a mile.

Strength through precision
One filament is too delicate to become fabric alone. Several are guided together into a thread strong and consistent enough to weave.

The thread is woven, finished and inspected. Weight, uniformity and workmanship determine how the final silk looks, drapes and lasts.

Is satin the same as silk?
No. Satin is a weave. Silk is a natural protein fibre. Many lower-priced satin pillowcases are made from polyester, so the fibre label matters more than the shine.

Momme is a measure of silk fabric weight. A 22-momme pillowcase uses a substantial amount of silk while retaining the fluid drape expected from the material.
Can silk be used throughout the year?
